Reiki
When I first heard about Reiki, I was skeptical, to say the least. But, when I finally found myself on a practitioner's table, all of that skepticism quickly washed away. I felt sensations within my body, though no hands were actually placed upon me. I saw lights and colors behind my eyelids. It was amazing. At the end of my session, I felt so relaxed. The tension from my shoulders was no longer there. I felt...lighter, with a newfound sense of peace.
Reiki can help shift and move energy within the body, promoting relaxation and healing. Traditionally, the practitioner places their hands on or hovered above the recipient's body, typically moving in the direction of head to feet. Reiki is not only beneficial for humans, but to our animal companions as well. In fact, my most frequent Reiki recipient is my pony, Penny, who "asks" for Reiki almost every time I am with her (pictured with her here).
